  3. A GREAT debut novel. I began and finished the entire book in just one day, definitely a page-turner. The one thing that resonated with me the most was that Virtue who ended up in her “situation” had to wear the “shame” of being an unwed mother while attending church. Something I can definitely relate to. A very interesting and unexpected ending, I just know that Virtue and Terrance were going to hook up. Can't wait to see what happens with Terrance and his journey to finding his wife. My favorite character was Terrance, who was a great friend and a perfect gentleman. This platonic relationship shows that men and women can just be friends without crossing the line.

    1. Thank you, I am so happy that you enjoyed the novel! Thanks for finding a "day" to read it :-)

Yes I wanted to show that men and women can have a platonic relationship and that's why I wanted a strong male character like Terrance to play that role in Virtue's life.

Hmmmm, what will happen with Terrance and Erika, gotta wait for book two to find out....

  4. Loved the story Khara! when I started the book, I was afraid is was going to be a straightforward, typical story but that wasn't the case at all. There were interesting twists and surprises. For one, you kept me on the edge with Terrance and Khara. I really thought, they were going to end up together. At one point in your book, I had completely written Ty off. I thought he was a jerk, a poser who didn't deserve a second chance. But he redeemed himself...mightily... He's my favorite character by far! His journey was the toughest, because he didn't want anything to do with it. It was imposed on him and he rebelled BIG time....but his journey is also the most rewarding one to witness in my opinion. His growth was very gradual; it took a while. I could empathize with his frustration and his anger and I could feel the weight coming off his shoulders once he surrendered to God. That was beautiful! Question, how do you feel about Terrance? I thought he was too good to be true and therefore I couldn't really let my guard down and take him on... don't know.. I guess I have trust issues! lol

  5. Thank you Carmina! I'm so honored that you read my novel, words can't truly express how much. I think you are one of few readers that preferred Ty over Terrance. I like what you'd gathered about Ty though as I wanted to show is journey to change his life and truly hold on to his love for Virtue.

  6. Really!?! Terrance over TY? No! Maybe I just can't help but like those bad boys LOL!
Ty was real to me, he wore his heart on his sleeves, he went through he "normal" chain of reactions
I would expect from a man in real life, anger, frustration, etc... But in the end , his love for Virtue prevailed! Yay!
I would have been a little disappointed if Virtue had ended up with Terrance. But that's just me...
It was a real pleasure reading your novel! Thanks for writing it!

    1. You're right, Ty's reaction to the situation was very understandable and "normal". Of course it would have been great if he just was cool with the idea from the get go - but that's not always the case in life.

  7. I thought the story was great. At times I felt like I was reading my own life story. I just could not bring myself to forgive Ty, though, and was a little disappointed when Virtue decided to give him another chance. But I realize that's the power of forgiveness. I kind of figured from the start that she would not choose Terrance. Still, it was so refreshing to read a Christian book about "real" life. I loved it.

    1. Hi Tara,

Thank you for reading my novel and I am so pleased that you enjoyed it! Ty was a bit difficult in the beginning, but in some ways you can kind of understand his reasons, but he came around and it all worked out.

  8. This book was awesome and encouraged me to keep my faith in GOD and my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as a 23 year old Christian woman when it comes to any decision I make. I really thought at first that Virtue was gonna end up with Terrence but the book proved me wrong. I am so glad that Ty and Virtue worked it out. I honestly could not had been patient with Erika because she was disrespectful by smoking weed in Virtue house, cussing Virtue out, not supporting Virtue and her relationship with God. I would had tried to give her a chance but three strikes, she woulda been out my life (lol) but Virtue was patient and that's love... I just strongly believe you can still love someone but from a distance. God is so able though. Great book Khara!!

    1. Hi Courtney!

I am so happy you were encouraged by Not My Will, that was one of the reasons behind writing this novel.

You're right about Virtue, she had a lot of patience with Erika - a lot! But she came around eventually, thank goodness, right?

Thank you for taking the time to read my debut novel and for your awesome review!
